Argentina citizenship by investment cost
Priced per applicant, not per family.
USD 350,000 for the main applicant as a non-refundable contribution to the National Treasury, or a USD 800,000 government bond in its place, with a spouse and each child priced separately on top. Service fees are expected at around 10 per cent and due diligence starts at USD 10,000 per applicant. Government and passport fees have not been indicated, so no all-in figure exists yet.
Per applicant, not flat
The qualifying amount scales with the household. A married couple with two children under 18 is priced at USD 500,000 before fees — USD 350,000, plus USD 100,000 for the spouse, plus USD 25,000 for each child. Add service fees at around 10 per cent and due diligence at USD 10,000 a head and the same family is near USD 590,000 all in. On the bond route the main applicant’s USD 350,000 becomes a USD 800,000 bond and the family amounts stay the same, so that family commits USD 950,000, of which USD 800,000 is returned at maturity.
That structure is closer to the Caribbean, where the contribution steps up with each dependant, than to a single flat threshold. It also inverts the family argument: a single applicant enters at USD 350,000 while a family of four lands on the USD 500,000 that this programme was reported at, flat, for most of the past year — before fees are added.
What changed. Figures reported until August 2026 indicated a flat USD 500,000 Treasury contribution, or a USD 1 million seven-year zero-coupon bond, irrespective of family size. The schedule that circulated in September was per applicant with no bond route. On 2 October 2026 the Minister of Economy presented the per-applicant schedule with a bond route at USD 800,000, understood to run seven years with no interest. None of these versions has appeared in the Official Gazette, and the earlier ones are recorded here so the change is visible rather than quietly overwritten.
| Family member | Eligible | Investment | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Main applicant | Yes | USD 350,000 | Over 18, clean record, demonstrable lawful source of funds |
| Spouse or civil partner | Yes | USD 100,000 | Same-sex spouses should qualify equally; Argentina has recognised same-sex marriage since 2010 |
| Children aged 0–18 | Yes | USD 25,000 each | Dependency assumed at this age |
| Children aged 18–25 | Yes | USD 100,000 each | Never married and without children of their own; dependency is understood not to need proving. Earlier reporting cut eligibility at 24, and the September schedule set no upper age |
| Parents, grandparents, siblings | No | — | Not contemplated in the anticipated framework |
| Item | Expected | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Service fees | ≈10% | Expected to be charged on the contribution or bond |
| Due diligence | From USD 10,000 | Per applicant, not per family |
| Government and passport fees | Not indicated | No schedule has been published |
Dependant rules determine the real cost of a programme far more than the headline figure does. The schedule above is the Minister of Economy’s presentation of 2 October 2026, as relayed by attendees, and the service and due diligence fees are as reported by counsel. It is not law, and the age bands in particular could move before publication. Anyone presenting you with an all-in figure today is estimating.
Before you budget for this
There is a route that costs nothing.
Argentina naturalises after two years of legal residence with no investment requirement at all. For anyone who can genuinely spend two years in the country, it is cheaper by hundreds of thousands of dollars — and unlike the investment route, it is operational today.
